Like you, we've been following recent developments related to outsourced dental products. Several major companies have presences outside of the United States, and several major dental laboratories both exist outside of and advertise inside of the United States.
Russellville Dental Lab does occasionally receive outsourced work from other labs, and we also use other labs for certain products. We believe that the only reason to outsource is if the product can be done for less expense (and thereby cost less for you and your patient) and simultaneously be of equal or higher quality than what can be produced internally. If the product does not meet those standards, then we won't outsource. We don't make a point of trying to outsource, but it does happen.
Currently, only three products in Russellville Dental Lab's catalog are manufactured outside of the United States.
- Procera products: Occasionally for various reason some of the products in the Procera line of implant restoration products are manufactured in Sweden at the home office of Nobel Biocare. In the past year (as of 9/14/08) only a handful of units have been produced in such a manner when the U.S. manufacturing facility was briefly down.
- ISUS Implant Bar: The ISUS milled implant bar is manufactured in Belgium.
- Biocad Implant Bars: The Biocad milled implant bars are manufactured in Canada but designed in the USA.
Any other items in the Russellville Dental Lab product offering are manufactured inside the United States.
